Job portrait
Aurélien, General Technician on the ESS Project
MY CAREER
After my professional degree in embedded systems obtained in 2021, I went for a master in robotics. I didn’t feel fulfilled enough in this training and so I decided to stop and look for a job until the following September in order to take another master. That’s when CERAP Prévention contacted me to offer me a job as a general technician on the construction project of the ESS – European Spallation Source, the future scientific research facility on matter located in Lund, Sweden. I immediately accepted the offer and started work in January 2022.
As this was my very first job (apart from the internships I did during my studies), CERAP immediately welcomed me and gave me very good support to make my move to Sweden as smooth as possible.

MY MOTIVATIONS
What I really like about my job is the versatility of the tasks and the chance to discover and work with really interesting instruments and technologies. There is also real teamwork and sharing of skills, which I particularly like in view of my young professional experience.
This job has given me a lot of self-confidence, because of the working environment in which I would not have thought I would have the opportunity to work and also because of the instruments and technologies I work with. I have also improved my working method to meet deadlines. Finally, I have been given the responsibility of managing the supply and assembly of the 25 modules, which is a real challenge for me.
I find that there is real team cohesion, there is no judgement and the fact that the team is made up of multiple nationalities allows you to discover different lifestyles and work styles. The team integrated me very quickly and gave me responsibilities very quickly.
So I take my job as an adventure that I continue to discover and enjoy every day.
